About Me

Who am I?

I’m Dan Ryan and spend most of my time dreaming about my next trip, reading other people’s blogs about their trips or watching You Tube videos linked to them. When not doing this, I find myself educating the next generation as I’m a primary school teacher. It’s an enjoyable job for sure, but it’s stressful and hobbies outside of work are certainly needed to keep me sane. Exploring wild and remote parts of The UK is the perfect form of escapism.

Lesson planning and life’s other problems don’t seem to matter when you’re in a remote Welsh mountain bothy.

Why Exit Street View?

You won’t find write-ups about city breaks or stays in expensive hotels here. That is unless somebody decides to treat me in the future.  What you will discover are places in the UK that aren’t always at the top of every person’s British travel wish list.  Some places you may not have even heard of! The more off the beaten track it is, then the greater appeal it holds for me. There really is nothing better than heading away somewhere beautiful and off the beaten track for a couple of days to re-set the batteries, get in touch with nature and come back feeling like you’ve made the most of your time off, even if you’re slightly tired from wild camping or hiking in near horizontal rain.

Views like this one in Snowdonia’s Carneddau Range are hard to forget.

I also enjoy leaving behind the mod-cons we’re all so used to. I will almost always be staying in bothies or wild camping, so that I get to fully appreciate the landscape I’m part of. Occasionally I may well use slightly more comfortable accommodation, especially if with company.

So How Can My Website Help You?

  • You’ll learn about lesser-known destinations in The UK from somebody who is passionate about visiting them.
  • I’m honest. If I think a place or product is amazing, then I’ll tell you all about it. That works the other way around too. If something isn’t up to scratch, then you’ll know about that as well.
  • I’m still learning the skills needed to be fully confident in the outdoors and will share my victories and failures with you. You’ll properly learn who I am- warts and all.
  • I’m up for trying new and at times challenging things like winter camping or long solo hikes. I believe challenges are what help us grow as individuals and hopefully I can show this in my writing.
